Earth Hour 2012

Well, it’s Earth Hour today! =D I actually didn’t even realise it was! (gasp) Noooo~ Haha~ Well, i found out, so i did what was right. Turn off all electrical appliances around me. =) Yeah, my family didn’t bother to off everything so i just did it myself. Just in my room, alone, in the dark, no fan. One hour is really long so i thought of something to do. Haha~ I PRAYED! XD It really takes a lot of time off since i prayed for like so many things… until my brother came into the room and switched everything on. –.- Oh well, time to shift. Shifted to my sister’s room. At least there weren’t any mosquitoes there. =) So i waited… and waited… in the dark… the hot air… no fan… sweating… haha… until the last five minutes. I couldn’t wait anymore so i stood up and started counting down. Then i started swaying and soon enough dancing as i counted down. I’m odd… XD Haha~ YEAH! So one hour’s up for Earth Hour. Hmm… i feel guilty for missing the past two years of Earth Hour… actually, i remember i was out of home one of the years… and i blogged about what happened outside home. Hmm… can’t find that post. Ipoh field trip!!! =D

GOOD MORNING EARTH! WOW, IT’S SO BRIGHT NOW AFTER ONE HOUR OF DARKNESS! ^^ =D

It' haz been a long day~ Woke up super duper early on a Saturday morning just to go to uni. –.- Well, of course for a purpose lah. Who’d be so crazy to wake up so early on a Saturday morning just to go to uni for… no purpose… unless of course you’re that kind of crazy person who does crazy stuff! =D Haha~ Well, today was field trip to Ipoh day. Reached uni at about 7am. The whole LDP was void of cars. Very few cars indeed… and scary as well. It’s like everybody’s going fast therefore i must go fast too or they’ll condemn me. o.o Hey, why do i sound like Khim right now? O.O Haha~ Well, i reached 100km/h on my SLK today. =) (small little kancil lah XD) But it was like the first time i travel on the road so very early in the morning. Interesting experience. Well, it’s always interesting to experience new stuff. =)

Right, so it was said that the bus leaves at 7am sharp. But no~ It actually leaves at 7.30am! We got tricked by our professor! XD XD Haha~ But it’s a good thing. You know, Malaysian timing lah~ XD Yeah, so we waited in the ever so dark halls of Monash, in the wee hours of the morning, where ghosts and zombies still rooooam the grounds of uni. XD Haha~ Joking, don’t get afraid. =P Yeah, onto the bus we went and to our amazement, guess who came along. Our very dear electrical lecturer, Dr. Tin Win. =) Well, i don’t know why everyone teases him, i’d rather not, though sometimes i just play along. XD XD So evil eh? Haha~ Nah, i’d rather not. =) And who’d you know came along as well. Ms. Evonne! (i think that’s how you spell her name =D) Heard that yesterday’s lecture was like 20 minutes long. XD Wow, what a way to end your last lecture with the maths students. =)

We departed at 7.40am. Reached a stop within Selangor (i think) for a break and breakfast. I slept most of the way (maybe all the way actually =P). We reached Ipoh at the factory at about 10am. And such coincidence, there was a POWER OUTAGE! XD XD Lol~ So ngam. Haha~ So we were brought to see the machineries for the machining process of the sand casted stuff. Yeah, that. Oh, it’s actually a factory that produces centrifugal pumps. =) Looked like turbines to me at first… And back to the machines. They were there, it was hot, and dark, and the machines weren’t working unfortunately. So we didn’t get to see much action there. BUT! We had one more place to go. A FOUNDRY! But i actually didn’t know what that is until i checked my phone dictionary. =P Well, if you don’t know, go check the dictionary. =P

At the foundry, we got to see the sand casting process. Actually, all the moulds were already there so we only saw them pouring the molten metal into the moulds. And then they showed us around and explained the process on how they do sand casting and other stuff. Here, i’ll explain some of the stuff we did with some pictures i took. =) Forgive me for the bad quality pics, my handphone camera is just terrible. =P

This is the factory we went to. =) It’s called KewPump. They manufacture centrifugal pumps for various purposes. Here is where they do all the machining, assembling and painting. Unfortunately there was a power outage at that time so we didn’t get to see any of the machines in action. The other place we went was like 30 minutes away, called KewCast. Same company just that there is where they do all the casting of the metal parts.

                                                    

Melting metal in the furnace. They use scrap metal from all those waste from punched out metal sheets. I think what they were using right now is stainless steel metal. They also use cast iron.

Here they’re pouring the molten metal from the furnace into the so called ‘ladle’. If you can see at the background, there’s that display of some numbers ‘1632’, i think that’s the temperature of the furnace. =P And in the picture right beside that, they’re pouring the molten metal into the mould. They added some ‘powder’ into the ‘ladle’ just before pouring the molten metal to coagulate the impurities that rises to the top of the molten metal. Then they put a stick into it and pull the impurities out. They use that heated metal to light up some holes at the side of the mould (already had some combustible liquid) to draw air out of the mould. This ensures that there aren’t an air pockets that might cause defects. And then they put sand into the risers to ensure the molten metal at the top of the riser doesn’t solidify so that when the metal cools and contracts, it can draw metal from the riser. It the top cools, it’ll get stuck. =)

 

This is a picture of a RM400,000 spectroscope which they use to test the quality of the batches they make. O.O EXPENSIVE!!!

This are the sand moulds used in the sand casting process. The black part is the sand. They add some hardener to harden the sand so the mould is actually quite hard like rock. And the whitish stuff you see on some is the ceramic lining that they put onto the inside of the sand cast to prevent the sand from sticking to the cast.

This is… err… from the looks of it i think it’s a core… or a mould… I’m not sure. =P Wasn’t listening to this part. Haha~ But it’s for the turbine.

This is how the casted metal looks like right after it’s done hardening. No machining yet so it’s rough and dull. They make two halves of the turbine and weld it together to become one. =)

Alright, that’s about all the pictures i have at the foundry. Quite interesting… though the smell there was of molten metal and it’s just horrible. Smells like poisonous gas or something. x.x Haha~ Well, once we were done there… it’s MAKAN TIME! XD XD Everybody was like looking forward to that. So our lecturer brought us to town to eat Ipoh nga choy kai fan. =) (basically chicken rice with bean sprouts) Wow, we ate a WHOLE LOT THERE! It’s like my table, there were the 6 of us. Ming Leong, Zhi Ming, Wai Kit, Noel, Khim and i. We were given one plate of whole chicken, two large plates full of bean sprouts, a bowl of soup and each a plate of rice. We were so hungry that when the bean sprouts came, we already started eating. XD Btw, it was 2pm already. Yeah, so it was like vegetarian at first, until the MEAT CAME! XD We added like 9 bowls of hor fun (koey teow), some dry, some soup. THAT’S LIKE SUPER LOT! I ate one plate of rice and about half a bowl of hor fun. >.< The rest finished ALL! O.O WOW! AMAZING! XD XD There were like 60 of us mechanical/mechatronics engineering kids. GUESS HOW MUCH IT ALL COSTS! RM740! XD XD Yeah, we all paid RM15 each. So it’s like shared among everyone. Too bad for those small eaters. =P

Yeah, so after lunch some of us went round town. Some bought salted chicken. Some went to the famous tau fu fah stall to get some tau fu fah of course. I saw some random shop selling ‘Roti Ayam Daging Kambing’. O.O WOAH! WHAT’S THAT? Aswan and I was wondering so we checked it out. It was like a HUMUNGOUS bread stuffed with AYAM, DAGING AND KAMBING! XD lol~ RM26, worth it? Haha~ After that, we stopped by some place to buy the famous biscuit of which the name i don’t know of. But it’s really nice. The leftover money from lunch were used to buy each of us one biscuit, just nice. ^^ Oh, did i say it’s really nice? =D

And so, that was about it at our trip to Ipoh. We headed back home around 4.30pm. And oh, the bus full of mecha and mechi guys, all talking about girls. Oh my~ This is seriously ENGINEERING. x.x Lol~ Kee Wen ah~ Haha~ Well, it was a great time together we had with friends and the lecturers. =) Awesome indeed! Haha~ Hope there’ll be another one. =)

Out for a movie! Wrath of the Titans

It has been long since i enjoyed McDonalds RM1.05 ice cream… long time… hmm… i think. Just felt like that when i was eating it. It seems unfamiliar. So long~ Haha~ But it’s nice… hmm… i think last time was better though. Not sure. =P

A rare rainy morning today was. I was quite reluctant to get out of bed. x.x SOO LAAZYY! XD Haha~ Was at uni half an hour early, sat in my car, leaned the chair back, turn the music up, and just enjoy myself in my mini ‘room’. Then it started drizzling again, but i just stayed on listening to chinese music which i know not the meaning of the lyrics but it’s nice. =)

Went out today with my friends Kee Wen, Jackie, Pang Chien, Eunice, Suet Teng and Sing Kae for a movie. CLASH OF THE TITANS! Eh wait! NONONO! WRATH OF THE TITANS! Yeah, seems like the latter is the sequel to the former. But i’ve never watched Clash of the Titans. Well, this movie was…. i’d say… acceptable…. but… i’d only rate it a 4 out of 10. I don’t know why. There’s just so much more it can be done better with. Haha~ >.< I have no inspiration to blog now. >.< Haha~ What should i do now…

After much deliberation… we had an immensely long meeting… considered at every perspective…. we finally decided…. we shall… eat… McD! XD XD LOLOLOL~ LOL! So typical wei! Reminds me of my A-Levels friends. The four musketeers. Go to pyramid for our long lunch break. Orbit around the ice rink several times. Finally to decide… ‘Let’s eat McDonalds’ XD Lol~ Funny lah we all. Haha~ Love you guys! Miss you all too! >.< Haha~ All far and wide overseas. =) All the best my friends! =) Yeah, back to McD. WE HAD ICE CREAM FOR DESSERT! And i belanja’d them all. =P Somehow ah, my wallet suddenly feel fat today. >.< Haha~ lol~ But my bank account depleting. =P But, it’s nice to belanja people once in a while. I don’t often get too. People just don’t want to accept. Haha~ And most of the time i don’t have the chance. =P

Jam… at the parking lot

Such a warm night tonight, but such a beautiful sky it is…

Left for uni at 10am today, pumped some gas into my car and headed for uni earlier for parking. Class starts at 12pm though i usually can’t find parking on Thursdays. So, i tried my luck an hour earlier today. Went straight to paid parking. Went round and round one row after another searching for a parking lot. None… went to the last row. I see an opportunity! A parking spot small enough for a kancil and it leaves enough space for cars to pass by. ^^ Thank God for a parking space. I’ve been praying before i came to uni. Haha~ And it’s really a good thing having a small car. Love my SLK! ^^ (small little kancil) =P

AMAZING! Two screen computers! O.O I never knew there was a computer lab at my uni where all the computers had two screens! And! There was the ‘SmartBoard’! O.O Same like the one in Sunway uni when i was there. Kinda cool. You write on it with a special ‘pen’ (no ink whatsoever!). You can record what you wrote and replay it! XD XD Haha~ Kinda fun to play with. But i doubt i can at Monash. =P But, it’s just so cool to know new stuff. ^^

Berry! You’re so huge and cuddly like a teddy bear I WANNA HUG YOU! XD XD

For the first time ever! I was stuck in a traffic jam at the paid parking for like 15 minutes or so. x.x Haha~ They closed one exit lane so everyone had to squeeze to exit on only one other lane. >.< Well, at least i got out and the jam hasn’t started yet. =)

Yet to write that poem Sing Kae inspired me to write. =) Shall work on it soon for my name is ‘soon’! XD XD =D lol~

Spending time alone with nature

Sitting on a park bench, watching the autumn leaves fall, trees sway and leaves rustle as the autumn wind blows. I can imagine myself there as i was sitting on a bench at uni, in front of a mini garden, gardeners tending to them, people walking past by, strong winds blowing, clouds in the sky drifting so slowly. Listening to music as i watch this, so much like nature orchestrated.

Everyday early, just for free parking. So much time to do, usually spent in my car, listening to the radio, watching the white birds at the sewage pond flying about in the sky, leaning back on my car seat, having a little shut eye before classes begin.

Something i find funny: Walking towards a door, i confidently pushed it open. Confidently pushed it open as though i’m a hundred percent sure it’ll open. Yet it did not. So i almost crashed into the door. Imagined the scenario where i actually did. Haha~ Just find it funny. =)

First time… i think. Being at uni, all alone. Waiting for friends. I had some time spent alone with nature. Just observing. All alone. I am, was and would almost ever will be, an introvert. Though i’m a kind of introvert extroverted to other introverts. Towards the very extroverted, i’d be introvert, unless of course i know that person really well or i’m high. =) Hmm… why am i here talking about introverts and extroverts. Back to topic! Yes, alone with nature. Have you ever been so? It’s quite a pleasant thing for people like me. Though i’d rather spend time with friends outside home. @@ NO! WAIT! I shall talk no further. XD

So much time spent today troubleshooting my project. That relay, robot, programming stuff. Such a headache. @@ But thanks to some generous people who offered their opinion and help, we finally managed to figure out the problem. =) THANK YOU! ^^ Though we went round and round testing this and that until we were almost out of hope. But then came along help! ^^ It’s really nice helping people. And a nice thing to know people are helping you. =)

Study…. NO, SLEEP! x.x

Came back home today feeling tired… but it’s only 5.30pm! Hmm… i thought to myself, ‘I should study analogue so i can do the tutorial tonight.’ Yes, i was determined to do just that. Went up to my room, and changed clothes. Then i saw the Honey and Clover comic i haven’t yet read finish. So i was like,' ‘Hmm… i think i’ll just read it finish now. There’s only like one section left’. So i lay on my bed and started reading. Once i was done, i was just laying there on my pillow, so soft and comfy. Then i thought, ‘I think i should rest a little first.’ Wasn’t planning to sleep at that point. But slowly my eyes closed and my body felt all weak. So i decided to sleep for a while. Thus, i was brought to dreamland. In my dream, i dreamt of many floors of a multi-storey building. There was a huge open atrium, bridges connected across. There were no railings! I was like all afraid, feeling that feeling when you look over a railing of somewhere high. And my ‘very good’ friends were like playing around with my fear of heights, mockingly trying to push me down. It was reeaaally scary. You know, high floors, no railings = x.x It’s not like i’m afraid of heights, well just a little, but when there’s no railing, i have every reason to be afraid. XD
And as dreamland slowly faded, and as i slowly opened my eyes to reality, i was all so blurry and i thought, ‘Err~ What time is it??’ Couldn’t get myself up to look at the clock, neither have i my handphone with me at that time. So i was like just laying there in my bed, all so blurry, feeling tired, body aching all over. Until i rolled over the pillow and i could see the clock just across. ‘Oh, 7pm, just on time for dinner. Great, i missed my chance to study.’ And forcefully i rolled myself off my bed and got up to me feet with much effort, swaying left and right like a drunken man. @@ Haha~ Just an over reaction i often do. =)

The beach

The beach,
Such a wonderful place it is,
Where land meets ocean and sky,
Take a stroll with the one you love.

The beach is a wonderful sight,
As the sun dives into the ocean,

As the moon and jewels of the stars appear.

Feeling monotonous…

Well, well, it’s a Saturday and yet i have to go to uni today. Had to attend a lab visit just over an hour in duration. Well, cool thing to see all the machines and stuff but then it’s only for that and on a Saturday! XD XD Can’t complain, i’m a student.

Bed bugs are still around… they just don’t seem to die. =.= During the hols i’ve been checking my bed daily, squishing bugs. Now as uni starts i’m not as free anymore. Only do my hunt on Thursdays and Fridays when my classes end late. Ah~ Today’s another biohazard day, house filled with toxic fumes from the cockroach spray my dad uses to kill those bed bugs. x.x I’m might just die young because of this.

Fly to uni, just in time for the lab visit… a few minutes late. Explanations already started, just tagged along. We got a detailed explanation of the functions of the machines by someone whom i do not know who people say in facebook sound like Kenneth. XD Haha~ Yeah~ And then there was the demonstration on how to use the machines and stuff by the lab technician. There was a milling machine, grinder, welder, metal cutter, metal bender, metal curver, saw, and another machine that i forgot the name of but was kind of cool. Some random stuff that happened, we saw a helicopter landing outside the lab window, and we found a bottle of chloroform… i think if we dropped that we’d all be dead cause there’s so much in it. Haha~ That lab seems like a dangerous place. XD

My Engineering Design group decided to go out to KL today to get springs for one of our systems in our project. Couldn’t join them, usually busy on Saturdays. Khim said Berry was at uni today so i went to say ‘Hi!’ to him and Hui Hui. They were doing their maths assignment. Already done, just the sketching part. They’re so rajin, so much better off than ‘some people’. –.- I really hope those people will be alright…

Driving home i saw a stalled lorry and a bad accident. Hmm… jammed on a Saturday, no wonder. I hope there’s no casualty in the accident with the mangled car. Arrived home for lunch and went out of music practice not long after. Sleepy afternoons Saturdays are. Slept most of the time in the car. Slept when i came back too.

Night, out for dinner and to 1U. That’s what i do almost every Saturday. Went to the music carnival, there were lots of CD’s there. Music, movies, anime. Bought something for my friend… let’s just say it’s a souvenir from the carnival. Nothing much to do there, so i went walking around 1U. I was yearning for ice cream… wondering around hunting for ice cream but didn’t buy any in the end. Though when i met back up with my parents, i found that they bought Haagen Dazs and Garrett popcorn, macadamia. Really sweet the popcorns. Though macadamia was nice in the sweetness. If you don’t know yet, i don’t quite fancy nuts. But this time, i’ll make an exception.

So that’s about it today. I feel reeaally monotonous. Yes, but i like this persona. And i notice my blogging style has changed. It seems… so… boring. Not the happy, fun, funny type it used to be. Oh well… times change. That’s all for now.

Roti…. DRAGON

First and foremost i’d like to say… i’m feeling soo sleepy right now! Must be because i’m laying on my bed typing this blog post. =P

Yesterday was an interesting, exciting and fun day out! =D Initially i only planned to stay for dinner but things just came by so i tagged along! Haha~ I’ll start off with the last lecture of the day, Bio-Nano Engineering. Well, it’s not actually a lecture i’m supposed to attend. =P Just crashing in my Chem friends lectures cause i was staying back for dinner anyway. Haha~ The really funny thing was when i attended that lecture while my friends from Chem SKIPPED THE LECTURE!! XD XD Well, i actually didn’t know they skipped lecture, i joined my other friends and sat up front of the class! Playing DrawSomething! Of course i listen to the lecture also lah cause it would seem suspicious if i don’t. Haha~ I’m an illegal immigrant. =P

And so, lecture ended late actually. But after lecture, my friend invited me for frisbee! Well, since everyone else was playing, i might as well join in. XD Mind you i was wearing shirt, long pants and leather kinda shoes while i was playing frisbee. >.< First time playing frisbee for me!…. hmm…i think i might have played it once or twice before… BUT it’s the first time i played the frisbee game! It’s something like captain ball. Throwing the frisbee from one end to the other end and catching it within a specified area gives you a point. =) Of course there’s more to the rules but i won’t be talking about it here. XD Ask me if you wanna know! Haha~ But i’m still an amateur. =) But it’s a fun game, i quite enjoyed it though i can feel my lowness of stamina within me. x.x

After a few rounds of frisbee, the sky was getting dimmer signalling the time for dinner! =D Btw, my team lost cause we were mostly amateurs. XD But we’re playing for the fun of it, and fun we had. Good to be exercising and sweating once in a while. =) Haha~ So i asked my ‘fat’ friend to go exercise cause she doesn’t seem to be exercising lately. XP Ah yes, back to the story. Dinner time! We went to Murni, Mentari for dinner. There were like 11 of us. One big gang went out makan dinner sama-sama and berbonding. XD Haha~ This reminds me of my CF’ers when we would go out mamak’ing after afternoon recess cell. ^^ Miss those times~ ^^We talked, chit chat, and ate together. The friendly atmosphere of fun and laughter between friends. ^^ The FOOD! Berry ordered the most interesting of dishes and drinks! HE ORDERED ‘I MISS YOU’ AND ‘ROTI DRAGONNN’!!! XD XD XD Here, i took a pic of it. =D My camera’s a little cacat’ed so please forgive the bad pic. =)

 

ROTI DRAGON! XD

THERE! THAT HUMUNGOUS DUMPLING IS ROTI DRAGON! XD Wow, i was amazed at the size of it. And it so totally looked like a dumpling. That sauce you see there is like the tomato spaghetti sauce on spaghetti bolognese. It’s a little black pepperish. But it tastes good. The inside is way better! Meat, cheese, ham, mushroom! XD Well, i’m not too sure of all the ingredients but those were the main ones. BUT IT IS SERIOUSLY DELICIOUS! XD XD It’s really really nice! XD Haha~ I think it costs RM12. If you have a chance, try it. It’s nice alright, just that it’s huge.

Ah~ And there was a joke about Berry eating Dragon!!! DRAGON! I have a friend named Dragon. Haha~ And someone said, ‘Who knows, Dragon might be eating berries right now!’ XD XD Hahaha~ Funny, nice time we had together. =)

And after dinner i got back home. I was HIGH! FULL OF SUGAR FROM THE MEDIUM RIBENA I DRANK! XD XD HAHAHA~ But after my ‘high’ness wore off, i was all tired and sleepy. x.x KO’ED! So i went to sleep early. Had quite a good night’s sleep though the next morning i was somewhat reluctant to get out of bed at 6am. Haha~ =)

Well, i hope i get to do this more often, spending such great time with friends. =) Mon Ami/Amie! ^^

Just like old times…

Walking down the streets with a can of coffee in my hand, 
Walking slowly, sip by sip i drink my coffee, 
Ever so lonely these walks are. 

Observe the wonders of nature around, 
The breeze so gentle to touch, 
Leaves calling out with their rustles so subtle. 

Much time i have to reflect, 
Much time i have to ponder, 
About the way i am to wander. 

The sun burns, out comes puffs of clouds.

I love music, i love car rides, i love looking out the window, not a sound from the outside, the music plays, as though telling a story of images passing by.


The evening sun today, it was so bright and orange. Seems like it was burning high up in the sky. Clouds were like smoke coming out from the burning sun. I took my phone out to take a picture, but alas my phone was low on battery. Such a waste. It’ll be a beautiful scene. Though my camera isn’t that great. If only i had one, that i can use to take these beautiful things i see.


I feel like i’ve been shot right through my chest. The pain lingers through the night…
